PostHeaderIcon Swimming Update

Over the past 2 weeks, Aaron has suddenly found the confidence and skill to do really well at swimming. It has come out of nowhere really, but he is now very happy to do stuff in the big pool! He has been jumping in on his own, swimming on his own and, this last Monday, was floating on his back in a star shape on his own and then turning and swimming back to the side. It is amazing really how he has suddenly started to be so happy in the water. For a reward, he had double his pocket money this month, so hopefully that will spur him on to continue doing so well. Kelly and I are very proud of him! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Last week, the swimming pool was finally re-opened, so Aaron could have a lesson. He did very well apparently and went in the big pool for a bit. He was still worried but there was no crying this time! This week, he couldn’t go as it was Ben’s Carol Service at School, and next week, it is the Christmas holidays and we will be out, so he can’t go again then. Then the following two week, there are no lessons due to it being Christmas and New Year, so it will be the second week in January before he gets back into it properly! Hopefully he can kick on then and complete stage 2!

Finally, after well over a year of trying to swim, Aaron finally completed his Stage 1 swimming award during the Summer holidays! Well done, Aaron!

So he has now moved on to Stage 2, which is still in the learner pool, but the children are spending more and more time in the big pool. As expected though, Aaron has reverted to being silly and not wanting to try it or even put a toe in the big pool. It is a little annoying as we know he can actually swim a bit now as we have seen him when we have gone swimming as a family. His swimming instructors wouldn’t have moved him up a level if they didn’t think he could do it either! During the holidays, he had no problems at all in Stage 2 but since he has started back at school, he has gone all silly again. This last week, he was actually in the water for about 10 minutes out of the 30 we are paying for. Nightmare! It looks like we may have to start bribing him again as swimming is one of those things that he has to learn!

Yesterday was Aaron’s last Balanceability lesson and he has completed it with ease! He can now ride a bike properly and safely without stabilisers and he got rewarded with a nice certificate! Very well done Aaron!

PostHeaderIcon Swimming Update

Aaron has suddenly started doing really well at Swimming on a Monday evening in Tavistock. There were several weeks when he was being really awkward by not trying and basically being silly and crying and refusing to do anything. ย Typically, one of these times was when I was able to go and watch as well (May Bank holiday), but since then, he has really been brilliant! All the things that he wouldn’t do before, lying and floating on his back, lying in the shape of a star on his back, he is doing really well. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I think he is up to 98% completed now (finally), so he should hopefully get to 100% and complete stage 1 over the Summer holidays and get his first swimming badge and certificate. He has been in stage 1 for well over a year now, so he is due it! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Admittedly, we did have to bribe him with a new Paw Patrol tool after the debacle when I went, but as long as this gets him trying, I don’t mind! Get on Aaron! ๐Ÿ˜‰
