During the last half term, Aaron and his classmates went on a Gruffalo Hunt around their class room. For this, Aaron made a Gruffalo mask and had a sheet of paper  where he had to find the animals on it that are in the story of the Gruffalo.  Aaron had good fun doing this and made a great mask (with the help of Mummy).

After not even a full term at School, Aaron has now moved on to reading basic CVC books with words such as cat, dog, rat and sat.  He seems to be enjoying learning to read and gets very excited when he learns a new letter and tells us straight away when he gets home. Hopefully he will carry on with this and get to a really good level by the end of the reception year.

He is also doing really well writing and can easily write his name now. He seems to love practicing his words and, like his reading, he gets excited when he learns how to write a new letter and shows us as soon as he gets home. Long may it continue! Well done Aaron.

PostHeaderIcon Primary School Update

So, Aaron has now nearly completed his third week of primary school already!!! Where have those weeks gone!?!

He is doing really well there and has gone in on his own brilliantly. He has been having his milk in the mornings but not his snack though, as it is all fruit and veg that he doesn’t like! He has been eating his dinner though but has mostly stuck to jacket potato, cheese and beans and hasn’t tried anything else other than a baguette pizza and fish fingers, chips and beans. I expect when he sees his other friends start to eat the other food items, he will start trying them as well. Hopefully anyway!

His teacher has commented on how well he has settled in and his working well. He even came out with the word ‘Bonjour’ earlier in the week and knew what it meant in English as well, and also now knows the letters ‘m’ and ‘a’ properly.

There has been one incident though, when a stupid dinner lady wouldn’t let him go to the toilet during lunch. The poor boy was so desperate that he started crying, at which point she relented and let him go. We spoke to the teacher about this as we thought this was shocking behaviour as Aaron is only 4! So hopefully that has been sorted out now. It was an actual teaching assistant as well that made him cry, so she should have known better! Stupid woman.

Anyway, hopefully he will carry on enjoying school.

Here is a pic of a pic that was on the window of his classroom of them all on their first day.

1st Day At School

Yesterday was Aaron’s first day at big school! 😉

For the first week, he is only in until 11:45, just to get used to the new surroundings and how things work at big school. Next week he is staying in for dinner and leaving at 12:45.  This is when we will see what he eats at school as he is entitled to free hot school dinners, so he will get the chance to have some nice food like Roast Ham, Braised Steak, etc.  We think he will end up just having jacket potato and beans for the first few weeks until he gets a bit more adventurous! haha In the third week of being at school, he will start to stay for the entire day. By this time he should be settled in and enjoying it (hopefully).

For his first day yesterday, he went on in and met up with his two friends called Harry (they were waiting for him! 😉 ) and proceeded to take his jumper off and untuck his polo top! So the other two Harry’s did the same. He then sat down with them and played all morning with cars and Fireman Sam toys, so he was very happy yesterday and no crying at all, which is what we were slightly worried about after the initial issues we had with him going to pre-school.

Well done Aaron, we are very proud of you! xx (but we still can’t believe he is at primary school already!!)
