Back To School In Year 1
Today is Aaron’s 1st day in Year 1 at school. I don’t know where the Summer holidays have gone, let alone his year in reception!!!
School Trip To Dartmoor Zoo
This last Tuesday, Aaron had a School trip to Dartmoor Zoo, and he loved it!
There was a slight issue beforehand though, as a newly arrived Lynx at the Zoo escaped which caused the Zoo to shut down for a day or two to enable the staff to try and recapture it (it hasn’t been recaptured yet!), so they weren’t sure if they were still going to be able to go or not. It turned out that they could though, as the Lynx wasn’t any danger to humans as it is only small, so they went as planned. The weather was, unfortunately, a bit damp and dreary, but he said that he enjoyed the day very much! 😉 We couldn’t really get any more info out of him than that! haha
Bickleigh School Summer Fayre
Last Friday was the annual Summer Fayre at the boys’ School, so we went for a couple of hours with Grandma. As usual, there were lots of stalls and games to take part in and the boys did a few and won lots of sweets and chocolates, and the odd toy. Aaron also went on a big bouncy castle slide! Papa Johns provided pizza there, so we had pizza for tea, which was actually very nice. Aaron had some good fun playing around with some of his friends that he bumped into and generally had a fun time! The weather was dry and mostly sunny as well, so it turned out to be an enjoyable Summer Fayre.
Swimming Update
Aaron has suddenly started doing really well at Swimming on a Monday evening in Tavistock. There were several weeks when he was being really awkward by not trying and basically being silly and crying and refusing to do anything. Typically, one of these times was when I was able to go and watch as well (May Bank holiday), but since then, he has really been brilliant! All the things that he wouldn’t do before, lying and floating on his back, lying in the shape of a star on his back, he is doing really well. 😉 I think he is up to 98% completed now (finally), so he should hopefully get to 100% and complete stage 1 over the Summer holidays and get his first swimming badge and certificate. He has been in stage 1 for well over a year now, so he is due it! 😉 Admittedly, we did have to bribe him with a new Paw Patrol tool after the debacle when I went, but as long as this gets him trying, I don’t mind! Get on Aaron! 😉
