Football Club Change
Aaron has changed football training to Thursdays now with Marjons. It had got to a point where there weren’t enough children turning up to the West Pro training on a Tuesday so they cancelled that. So Aaron has been at 6pm-7pm at Marjons since the start of this term although he hasn’t been the last couple of weeks. He only really wants to go if his friend Reuben P goes so he isn’t really that committed. We have been told that this training will lead to a team as well, which he does say he wants to do. Aaron is just being Aaron (haha) so we will see if he changes his mind after the May half term and start going again.
Football Club
A couple of weeks ago, Aaron decided that he wanted to try and join a football club again, with sessions run by WestPro. This coincided with Coby starting playing as well on a Tuesday at 5pm at Eggbuckland school, as Aaron knew that his good friends also played football on a Tuesday at 6pm, straight after Coby’s year, and they had been asking Aaron to join up for ages. So we said we would take him along with Coby and he joined in with the first hour (so the coach could see how well he did) before also joining in with the session for his own age group.
We were quite surprised that Aaron lasted both sessions without getting too tired out and we were also impressed with how well he played, especially in the lower age group. He scored a couple of cracking goals and we were cheering him on from the sidelines! He seemed to really enjoy it but kept looking over at us for reassurances. 😉 He was with the older children from that group, so Coby was with some others of his own age in a different group. Aaron was still the oldest there though and taller than them all!
In the second session, all his friends played as well and they were put into teams. Aaron was in goal quite a lot but he did play out as well and did well, although you could see the step up in quality with his age group. He did very well though and did a few good passes and saves in goal, and managed a couple of shots. It was very good really although we would have liked a bit more training in the older session due to some team coaches being there wanting to practices for the upcoming matches. All the training seemed to happen in the session before with the younger children. Anyway, Aaron enjoyed it and wanted to carry on each week, so we paid for him to start properly and he now goes on a Tuesday. 😉
Football Training
A few weeks ago now, Ben and Aaron started going to football training on a Friday evening at Goals next to Home Park. It came about when one of Ben’s friends had a birthday party there and the guy who was doing the training part of the party asked if they wanted to do a proper training session each week. All the children wanted to do this, so it started a couple of weeks later on the 18th September and Aaron was invited to do it as well. The coach is actually the son of the owner of Goals as well and is only in his late teens but looks to be doing a coaching course so this would of course help him out as well.
So the boys have been going for about 4 weeks now and are mostly enjoying it! Aaron has shed a few tears as the other boys are bigger than him and he is ‘too tired’ to run around after a long week at school, but he has generally enjoyed it and has been in goal and has even been the Manager’s Assistant (the Coach – Nathan) which made him happy! 😉 Ben has also had a couple of moments when he has been unhappy but he has generally enjoyed it as well.  I must say it does get very competitive though when they play their training matches! 😉
Here are some pics of their 1st training session.
