PostHeaderIcon End Of Football Training For Aaron

Aaron has now stopped going to the weekly football training. We have actually stopped going to Goals now and Ben is doing a properly run coaching session with the other Bickleigh Buddies at Marjons on a Thursday now. Aaron had the opportunity to play as well but didn’t want to really. Unfortunately, the boys that play are all in Ben’s year and he doesn’t really know any of them properly like he did with some others before. One of his friends did come along once, but didn’t like it either, so never came back again.  So Aaron, for now, has given up on the training, but we are going to try and get him to do something else instead with some of his friends, so watch this space! 😉

PostHeaderIcon Quick Update

We are now into the last week of the first term of Year 1 and Aaron has grown so much! He has got taller (and skinnier!) and he has come on extremely well with his reading and has started to get interested in drawing and other crafts much more.  He still prefers to play with his cars though and this is what you can find him doing most of the time!  He is doing very well with his spellings and has currently got 10 out of 10 each week, although they are much more awkward this last week, so hopefully he will still get them all correct.  He is getting on very well at School still, and likes his teacher, Miss Bowyer, and the friends he has. He does have a tendency to come home filthy every day though! We have no idea how he ends up covered in mud, but he does! He still mostly has jacket potato and beans for his school dinner but has occasionally branched out to a burger, or fish fingers, or chicken nuggets – only because he has these at home! He doesn’t try any other food really, but I would have been the same!  Aaron still cries a lot, mostly over daft things, so hopefully he will grow out of that soonish as the whining is quite annoying! 😉 He does scrap with the other three as well, and Kelly and I are forever telling them to be good and be quiet as Aaron just talks and talks! And he doesn’t have a quiet voice either! I bet he doesn’t talk as much at school though I guess that is why he does at home as he bottles it up all day and then has to be noisy as soon as he gets home! haha.

Outside of school, Aaron is still mostly enjoying football training on a Friday and has now scored a few goals! Well done! He has had several birthday parties to go to as well, which he has enjoyed, as they have all been quite different such as a trampolining party and a sports party. He has also had some of his friends over for tea, and has another one over this week for Hot Dogs!

He does tend to get tired out quickly still, and he usually falls asleep when we go anywhere in the car! I don’t know how, but Aaron could go to sleep anywhere, a bit like his Uncle Darren used to be able to do! 😉

He is now looking forward to Christmas and has written his list for Father Christmas and it has gone from the tree. I can imagine him getting more and more excited as the time goes on and the big day gets closer. He just needs to behave himself a bit more, wash his hands more and try and be a bit quieter! 😉

PostHeaderIcon GOALS Football Tournament

Last Saturday, Aaron and Ben entered a football tournament at GOALS (where they play on a Friday night) which was run by the Plymouth Argyle coaches. Nearly all of the Bickleigh Buddies went but, as Aaron is younger than the others, he had to be put in a different age group, so not with anyone he knew. He ended up in the orange team and was OK for the first game where he stayed in goal and generally didn’t do anything. But in the second game, he turned all silly and started crying and didn’t want to play anymore. I think it was because he couldn’t get the ball and didn’t want to do much running about. It was quite embarrassing really but we had to take him off for a bit. I did manage to get him to have another go a bit later on in the 2 hour session, as he wanted a medal and I said he wouldn’t get one if he didn’t play, so he had another go for 5 mins but the same thing happened again, so we gave up. It was a real shame but Aaron tends to be like this for some reason.  He was happy running about with Coby and Toby, kicking the ball on the pitch where we were watching Ben play! Anyway, he did get a medal at the end. His orange team came 2nd in the final standings as well, so I managed to get Chloe (the PAFC coach who coaches them on a Friday and was running this tournament) to give him a trophy. As you can imagine, he was very pleased with this as Ben had also won a trophy for his team being runners up as well. He shouldn’t really have got one though, but it made him happy and I was hoping it would give him a bit more confidence for if we go to a tournament again. He also received a specially made ‘Bickleigh Buddies’ medal along with all the other boys that play on a Friday night, so he came away with plenty of medals and a trophy!

PostHeaderIcon Football Training Update

Aaron has been enjoying football training on a Friday evening at Goals, and has even been the manager’s assistant at times (because he is smaller than the rest he doesn’t feel as confident). He has scored a few goals as well but prefers to go in goal as he doesn’t have to run around as much then!

Last week, as we had booked a certain number of sessions, Goals put on a little party for the boys that included some food and drink and took place in one of their party rooms.  It was really good and the boys scoffed it all and were very tired afterwards (the food was after the training)!

It has been really good there and all the boys have enjoyed the training each week and are already looking forward to it restarting in the New Year.
