Poorly Boy
Unfortunately, the week before half term Aaron was quite poorly and had to stay home from school all week. Coby had been ill the previous week so we think he passed his illness on to him. From the symptoms, it seemed to be the flu and he got so bad at one point that Kelly called the NHS Direct line and they made an appointment for Aaron to see the out of hours doctor at the hospital. So we had to take him down to the hospital to see the doctor for 19:15 on the Wednesday evening and he confirmed that Aaron was close to dehydration and almost had to keep him in the hospital overnight to rehydrate him. Luckily, we were able to take him home again, with some medicine, and had to make sure he had a drink every couple of hours, even through the night. The poor boy looked awful really and very sluggish. He wasn’t eating and his legs and body were aching all the time – he was even sick a couple of times as well. Luckily, by the end of the week, the medicine and all the extra fluids we were making him have, perked him up and he was much better by the weekend, which was good as we were going to stay in a caravan! It wasn’t just Aaron ill that week though, as Ben ended up being ill all week as well, after being sent home from school on the Monday morning. At least they are better again now!
Tonsilitis
Poor Aaron has now got Tonsillitis although he isn’t very ill with it! It is actually quite bad that Kelly thought it was something else called Quinsy which could be a lot more serious. His Uvula is stuck to the side of his throat and has large white blisters all over it. He has been complaining of feeling sick as well, which is no wonder really! Kelly took him to the docs yesterday but the normal Doctor wasn’t there and the stand in was quite rubbish apparently and didn’t really check him over too much but did prescribe Antibiotics for the next few days. They seem to be working as well, as Aaron’s throat doesn’t seem quite so bad today so he should be able to go back to school again tomorrow.
Christmas 2014
It wasn’t the best Christmas ever as Coby was really ill and Ben and Aaron were ill as well. Saying that, Ben and Aaron enjoyed it all and had lots and lots of presents to open on Christmas morning. It took well into the afternoon to finish opening them all, and they had some really good presents from everyone, and Father Christmas. Unfortunately, due to them not feeling very well, they were both in bed just after 6pm, which was very early for them, especially for Christmas Day.
They both got up just after 7am and dived into their stockings, which were chock a block. We then all went downstairs and the boys were amazed to see all the presents under the tree. They wanted to dive in straight away but we managed to get a bit of breakfast first, and then started opening presents. We were still going by dinner time, and they both had their Christmas Dinner, although Aaron didn’t eat it all as he isn’t found of roast dinners. Ben scoffed all of his though! Aaron preferred dessert! 😉 They both had a good play in the afternoon when all the presents were opened, with their main ones being a remote control robot Dinosaur (for Ben) and a robot Puppy (for Aaron). Aaron also got the ambulance he asked Father Christmas for! They had some more food for tea but has slowed down considerably by this time, and not long after went up to bed, tired out and not feeling very well.
All in all, we did have a nice day, but it was a shame that all the boys were ill and myself and Kelly were completely tired out after being up with Coby all Christmas Eve night.
Thanks to everyone that gave the boys cards and presents!
1st Year Jabs
Aaron had his first year jabs on 28th May. He didn’t like it at all and was fighting through the second jab that had to be done. He had a couple of small bruises come up afterwards and was quite whiney for the rest of the day, especially if you tried to go near his jabs area. He was still a brave boy though!
The nurse said that any symptoms from the jabs may appear up to a week after, and he unfortunately ended up with a bad case of conjunctivitis which had to be treated with eye drops. It may not have had anything to do with the jabs as the jabs had nothing to do with conjunctivitis, but they may have helped him pick it up through his system working against the jabs. It has taken a good 2-3 weeks for it to fully go, with Ben having it slightly as well at one point, but it looks to have finally gone.
We are very glad there is a long time until he is due more jabs!
11 Month Update
The little man is getting bigger and bigger all the time now! He is growing very well and doesn’t have any problems with eating at all. He would eat non-stop if he could though! 😉
He now has two teeth come through, the second making an appearance on the 2nd March, and they are both the ones on the bottom at the front. They are quite big now and very sharp so you don’t want him to bite you!
He is walking aided really well now, and seems to prefer walking around more than anything else. It isn’t as bad now as before as he has growing that little bit taller, so its not as back-breaking as it was to start with. It won’t be long before he lets go and toddles off on his own. Because he is taller and can stand up now, his walker is getting a bit small, so it won’t be long before that will be put away. He has already broken the vent in the kick board in the kitchen by ramming into it though. tut!
His favourite shows on TV are Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom and Peppa Pig. Probably because Ben watches them all the time! You can put the Ben and Holly theme music on at any point and Aaron will immediately stop and turn around to face where the music is coming from. Even if he is in a fit of tears, the music will cause him to stop and be quiet! lol Kelly has some episodes on her phone for the car, just in case! He also likes the two bedtime songs that are played on Nick Junior just before 7pm.
Sleeping -wise, he has been on and off a lot recently. Teething hasn’t helped really but there has been several times when he has caused us to have hardly any sleep. Being in a room with Ben doesn’t help though, as Ben is a nightmare sleeper, so when he makes a noise, it wakes Aaron up. Ben is suffering from night terrors at the moment which means he is waking up lots crying and shouting, which obviously keeps Aaron awake as well. Hopefully they will grow out of it soon as we are all desperate for a good night’s sleep!
While we were up in Weymouth recently staying with Kelly’s family, we took Aaron to the beach for the first time. He loved it playing in the sand and even tried to eat it!! We bought him a little bucket and spade which he enjoyed playing with, and was digging out the sand with his spade. He seemed to enjoy it loads. Hopefully the weather will stay nice this year and we will be able to go a bit more often than the past few years!
He has had several colds this year (we all have actually), but is OK at the moment though a tad snotty still! Not sure how he is getting them all the time but it coincides with Ben starting School, so we think he has been bringing all the germs back with him. Aaron has had a couple of heat rashes though. The first time we thought it was Chicken Pox (it was going around the pre-school) but it turned out it wasn’t with the doctor saying it was just a virus. In a way we were hoping it was Chicken Pox as it is a lot better to get it out of the way now than when he is older.
